Sometimes after a long week at the office staring at a computer screen, you want to have a bit of excitement in your life, so you pretend that you're a conventionally attractive international spy tasked with the mission of breaking into the French Embassy to steal the pride of France, a 24-karat gold pain au chocolat. All that stands between you and mission accomplished: a locked door. Pick the lock, and you're on your way to Lake Como with the wind in your hair and gelato in your hand.
Even if that lock is just your front door, and beyond it are more microwave meals than you care to admit, it's still a fun skill to learn how to pick a lock. Luckily, there are people out there who want to teach you.
TOOOL — The Open Organisation Of Lockpickers — holds meetings all over the country and provides free resources on its website on basic lock picking techniques. Illegal shenanigans are strictly discouraged.

Naturally, there is an official magazine, Non-Destructive Entry Magazine:
Remember, you can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you can't pick a lock without the proper knowledge and training (and the owner's permission).
