Lemurs

You’ve probably heard of Lemurs before, even if only because of the ‘Madagascar’ franchise, in which Sacha Baron Cohen voiced Julien, the Ring Tailed Lemur. Hysterically, we might add.

Lemurs are primates, but NOT monkeys. These Madagascan natives resemble monkeys, but took their own evolutionary path a long time ago, not long after the extinction of the dinosaurs in fact. Today there are over 100 diverse species of Lemur, ranging from the demure 1 oz Mouse Lemur, all the way up to the endangered Indri, which can grow to over 20 lbs, and be heard singing from miles away.

Unfortunately, Lemurs are losing habitat fast, so it’s worth trying to see them sooner rather than later.
