As far as bears go, they don’t get much more adorable than Pandas sitting upright and gnawing away at all that bamboo. Or little Brown Teddy Bears. Not to mention Black Bears ripping up bee’s nests for honey. Ok, so maybe most bears are adorable, but we’re here to talk about Pandas.
As with every Panda article ever written, we are required - by the Chinese government - to inform you that bamboo makes up 99% of their diet. Unfortunately, Panda territory is remote, and there are only estimated to be a couple thousand of them left in the wild, so you’re likely to only ever see them in captivity. Unless you are keen to travel to mountain forests of Central China, in the Gansu, Shaanxi, and Sichuan provinces. No? Didn’t think so. Of the few hundred in captivity, most are in China, but they do let other zoos ‘borrow’ the animals for educational, research, and breeding purposes.
