The Metropolitan Museum of Art, affectionately known as the "The Met," is a site of reflection and introspection amidst the oft chaotic streets of New York City. But much unlike the Mets, the Met is actually very good.
It is the largest art museum in the United States, and features wonderfully diverse collections, featuring artifacts and artwork from Africa, Asia, the Byzantine Empire, the Americas, Europe, ancient Egypt, Islam, and more. Some of its unique exhibits even show off historic musical instruments and fashion throughout the ages.
Admission is a "pay what you wish" fee, and visitors should not feel obligated to pay the $25 donation amount suggested by the entrance's signs.
