The museum, a palace itself, is surrounded by elaborate gardens, terraces, and tranquil pools. Home to the world's largest, and arguably finest collection of Chinese art, which encompasses over 10,000 years of Chinese history. Opened in 1965, it has been renovated and expanded a half-dozen times over the years. With a rotating collection of nearly 700,000 pieces, including ancient Chinese artifacts, paintings, calligraphy, statues, and ceramics collected by China's emperors.
