Every year, a vibrant collective over 60,000 people, or ‘burners’ as they’re known, gather in Nevada's Black Rock Desert for an event unlike any other. Burning Man’s (& Woman's) underlying message is community through self-expression, while celebrating individual creativity and self-reliance. If that sounds like a hippy mantra, that’s because it basically is. Let us warn you though, Burning Man isn't for the timid.
From the creation of Black Rock City, your new home for the week; all the way to the burning effigy of an enormous wooden man, this event is nothing if not intense. Currency isn’t used, and everything is either free or for trade. Having said that, Wal-Marts are in short order, so make sure you bring everything you actually need to survive.
